All too often, I see examples of leaders in both politics and business who waver in their decisions and are led by whatever is popular at the moment. This kind of trend-following creates uncertainty and undermines trust. That’s why it’s crucial for us as leaders to be clear about what we stand for and what drives us.
When I studied leadership at Harvard, we were continually reminded of the importance of identifying and expressing our fundamental values. Research shows that leaders who act in line with their values are better able to create security and integrity within their organizations – two key factors that propel positive change forward.
Clarifying your values isn’t just an exercise in self-reflection; it’s a safeguard. It helps us stand firm when others simply go whichever way the wind blows. So, how clearly can you express your own core values? This is a question that has the potential to transform both your leadership and your organization.
Have a brilliant day!
