Who Gets the Privilege of Being in Your Life?

That’s right—privilege! You are so amazing that being a part of your life is truly a privilege. Whether as your coworker, a member of your circle of friends, or part of your family, it’s nothing less than a gift. Unfortunately, many people behave as though it’s a right to be in someone else’s life. This often leads to toxic relationships where people take each other for granted, assuming their role—whether as a friend, parent, sibling, or partner—is guaranteed.

Blood Isn’t Thicker Than Water

Let’s bust that myth. For many, it becomes an excuse to stay in destructive relationships. But the truth is, relationships—even those with family—require care and effort.

I’m deeply grateful that my sons choose me, time and time again. They want me in their lives, and I see that as one of my greatest gifts. It’s not something I take for granted. My role as their father depends on me continually nurturing our relationship in a positive way.

Relationship Audit – A Gift to Yourself

One of the most powerful processes I’ve seen is when people conduct a relationship audit. They start asking themselves:
“Who gets the privilege of being in my life?”

This journey can boost self-esteem, foster new connections, or improve existing ones. Sometimes, it means leaving a relationship that’s harmful. And that’s okay.

Watching someone’s self-esteem grow as they recognize their worth is one of the most beautiful things I’ve ever witnessed.

Conducting a relationship audit is something I do regularly, both in my professional and personal life. It’s my way of keeping my networks healthy.

Have a brilliant day!
